Thrift Store Planter: These Boots Weren't Made For Walkin'

These BRIGHT YELLOW BOOTS caught my attention on a recent trip to Deseret Industries, and I snatched them up immediately. They wouldn't fit my feet, yet I knew I had to have them and paid $6 for the pair.

Flash forward to last week-
Exhausted, I was feeling the pressure of

an upcoming bridal shower I was planning...
acting as a single parent without Hubby for a few days this week...
Father's Day...
Hubby's birthday...
dressing our family for the approaching wedding...
[and myself as a bridesmaid]...
laundry piles that never seem to shrink...
Of life

The BRIGHT YELLOW BOOTS came out.

I figured since planting containers have holes in the bottom [for water drainage], mine should too. I drilled 3 holes right through the sole of each shoe [from the bottom]. The water appeared to drain out just fine.

With the laces in and loosened, I added a bit of planting soil to each shoe [after filling each shoe toe].

I dropped the flower in and filled in any extra space [around the roots] with planting soil.

Then, I gave them a drink [and they peed all over my table ;)].

Do you have a fun planter that needs a flower?

    1. You're sweet Kari. The color sealed the deal, for Summer. I don't think I'll look at shoes quite the same way again, LOL.

  3. A special Thank You to each one of you for stopping by and especially for leaving some Comment love. I'm struggling with feeling accomplished this month - it's very nice to bring life to an idea and have another give you a 'thumbs up.'

  4. This is fabulous. LOVE.

PS: I feel you - I have Father's Day and Handsome's bday 1 day apart (last year they were the SAME day). Ugh. Good luck to us both...
